Access to work scheme, get up to £60,000 in grants

Access to Work is a government scheme that provides financial support to help disabled people stay in or get into work. It can help with the costs of equipment, adaptations, or support workers that you need to do your job.

The UK government is offering up to £60,000 per person, per year, to fund tailored support that can enhance your productivity and well-being at work. This support can include ADHD coaching, administrative assistance, and other accommodations that are specific to your needs.

Who can apply? Access to Work is available to employed people, self-employed people, and apprentices who have a disability or health condition that affects their ability to do their job.

What support can I get? Access to Work can help with the costs of a wide range of things, including:

  • Equipment: This could include specialist equipment, such as a voice recognition system or a hearing aid, or adaptations to existing equipment, such as a ramp or a raised desk.
  • Support workers: This could include a sign language interpreter, a personal assistant, or a job coach.
  • Other adaptations: This could include the costs of transport to work, or modifications to your workplace, such as a ramp or a hearing loop.

How much support can I get? There is no limit to the amount of support you can get through Access to Work. However, the amount you receive will depend on your individual needs.

How to apply You can apply for Access to Work online or by phone. If you are applying online, you will need to create an account and provide some basic information about yourself and your disability. You will also need to upload a copy of your GP’s letter or other medical evidence.

If you are applying by phone, you will need to call the Access to Work helpline on 0800 138 1919.

What happens after I apply? Once you have applied for Access to Work, a job coach will contact you to assess your needs. They will then work with you to develop a support plan.

How long will my support last? Your Access to Work support will be reviewed regularly to ensure that it is still meeting your needs.
