MOBO Award winning gospel singer, Lurine Cato to perform at Divas of Colour festival 24th March.
Lurine Cato a multi award winning singer songwriter confirmed to perform at this year’s Divas of Colour International women’s festival, the leading platform showcasing and celebrating the best of women of colour from around the world.
The 5th annual festival will feature a 2 day extravaganza of fashion, shopping, music and street style food experience on day one at the prestigious Queen Elizabeth ii, Centre, Westminster, where Lurine will be belting out sweet and melodic sound that will give the audience the brilliance they crave for in an event such as Divas of Colour.
Lurine won MOBO Award Best Gospel Act in 2013 & MOBO nominee in 2017; UK Entertainment Honorary Award for Contribution to Gospel Music 2017; Premier Gospel Awards, Best Female Artist 2017 & 2016, GMA Italy, Best International Vocalist of the Year 2016. Named as one of the top 20 influential women in one of the UK’s leading Christian publication, Keep The Faith Magazine, Lurine Cato continues to impact and challenge the status quo. This year, she sang at St James Palace for the Diana Award and also sang at Althorp House, the home of Earl Spencer (brother of the late Princess Diana) at a charity event for The Diana Award.
Her album, ‘Chosen To Serve’ dropped in October 2016, reaching no.6 in the iTunes gospel & Christian Charts. Her album pre-launch event at 100 Wardour Street, London with 48 hours of minimal social media advertising saw a packed and eager waiting house; her performance was incredible; Lurine had her audience crying, laughing, singing and dancing. Giving a little insight into her labour of love, ‘Chosen To Serve.’ So many hitmakers are on the album including, the afrobeat, ‘Wave it Away,’ which hit the airwaves to glowing reviews, and only begins to unpeel the top layer of her songwriting prowess. Her released reggae duet with David Copeland ‘You’re My Latest, My Greatest Inspiration’ is a regular feature on BBC 1Xtra. After the tragedy of the Fire at Grenfell Tower, Lurine was asked to sing at a special open-air memorial service for those who lost their lives.
Lurine Cato is in demand across UK & Europe, her five-octave voice is mesmerising and live performances are said to be electrifying. Her mission to reach out to the hurting people through her songs; the lyrics of her songs are often a testimony of her life. Her hit song, You Revive Me has become an anthem. While she sings in arenas, concerts and festivals, Lurine will also sing to prisoners, young people in remand centres and reaches out to families of people who have lost their lives to violent crime and disaster. She is also is an ambassador for The Children Society, UK that support vulnerable children and young people; and as such sang in front of members of the royal family at Lambeth Palace during Christmas in December 2015. Recently, she was asked to become a special mentor for the Princess Diana Award and sung for the award ceremony in Cardiff, Wales and given advice to young people on their Facebook Live call-in for Anti-Bullying Week’. Her jump up n’ dance track ‘Power’ is the campaign song for the charity, The Safety Box. Their Project, 318 is aimed at young people to have power to rise to a greater place. Social conscious entrepreneur, Nathaniel Peat is the world influencer behind the campaign. Lurine co-wrote, Power with producer, Ian Green (he also produced for Michael Jackson, Jennifer Lopez, Britney Spears, Madonna and many more. Lurine is founder of Mighty Men Experience, which highlights male role models. Lurine formed a 41-strong male choir made of the UK’s top male artistes across genres to sing a song she co-wrote again with producer, Ian Copeland Green called Keep Fighting.
Lurine Cato was busy performing during the awards period in November 2016 MVISA Awards, Jump Video Music Awards, Legacy Awards and UK Entertainment Awards, she definitely became the artist everybody wanted on their lineup!
