Hen Foundation Founder, Mr Jamil Eniola Named Man Of The Year By Divas of Colour.

Divas of Colour to recognise Hen Foundation Founder,  Jamil Eniola as Man of The Year.

The organisers of Divas of Colour International women’s festival is proud to announce Mr Jamil Eniola as the Man Of The Year 2020. Having emerged winner of the honourable recognition, Eniola will be conferred with the honour during the lavish ceremony at the festival in London on 28th March 2020. 

In the history of Divas of Colour, there has been only one Man of the year, Mr Eze Ihenacho and this year, Mr Jamil Eniola has emerged the honouree for this recognition which is designated to recognise and celebrate the men who are selflessly supporting women causes and upholding human dignity through their community and charity works.

We cannot celebrate the services and contributions of our women without also remembering the men who continue to lend their undiluted support to our women.  It is really important that we continue the legacy.”

Divas of Colour was created in 2014 and has long become the largest gathering of women of Colour from all over the globe. The annual gathering in London is the flagship festival which not only celebrates women’s and men’s achievements but also, raises important awareness on important issues through an interactive and informative conference. This year, the Mental Health Awareness campaign tagged – Mind Your Mind will see a host of professionals from diverse professional and cultural backgrounds deliver speeches and take part in an engaging panel discussion – dealing with different aspects and ways mental health can be improved. 

Born and raised in Mushin, a major urban suburb of Lagos, Nigeria. Eniola is educated at some of the world’s Ivy League institutions, he has, over the past seventeen years, been involved in United Nations Consulting, Conferences, Seminars and Workshops all over the globe. 

He founded and named HEN Foundation as a befitting memorial to his late mother, with the objectives of empowering the needy with basic healthcare and access to basic education. A couple of years ago, over 2500 pupils in a public primary and secondary school in Nigeria benefited from HEN Foundation’s Mathematics Skill Pilot Program. Additionally, over 1800 students in the inner city of Lagos State, Nigeria, benefited from free University entry forms and free tutorial classes for the University Matriculation Examination. Also, in 2017, HEN Foundation conducted a free Cancer Screening Exercise for over 1,000 patients, in collaboration with the University of Ibadan Cancer Research Center and the Femi Gbajabiamila Foundation at the Akerele Healthcare Center, Surulere, Lagos, in which valuable medical equipment was donated to both the cancer research centre and the healthcare centre. At last year program in Nigeria to mark the International Girl’s Day, Eniola Hen Foundation announced educational scholarships for three students in Ilorin Kwara State. 

Apart from his philanthropic activities in Africa, Eniola has also been a veritable source of hope and succour to the needy in the U.K. and was among the first people to come to the aid of victims of the June 14, 2017, Grenfell fire disaster in London, while he continues to assist his local mosque, the Al Amanah Mosque to provide temporary shelter and provisions for the survivors at the Westbourne Grove, Kensington area of London.

Eniola has also been a veritable pillar of support for many organizations, including Girl Child Network Worldwide Founded by CNN Hero, Betty Makoni, Girls2Women Initiatives, Kamuna Widows Empowerment Initiative, Okwui Mask Scheme for Survival of Domestic Violence, Mothers Pride Initiative and others.  In 2017 during the annual event organized by Girl Child Network Worldwide, Never Again Royal Night, he donated £500.00(five hundred pounds sterling) for the rural community in Zimbabwe an opportunity for the village girls to get £14(fourteen pounds) a year sanitary pad, an opportunity for community’s children to attend school for the whole term. He regularly volunteers for Organization which supports people striving to learn the English language and other aspects of education necessary for British socio-cultural integration.

In 2019 Eniola Founder Hen Foundation was honoured with Spirit of Maya Angelou Award for the global humanitarian activities at the prestigious Clinton Presidential Center in Little Rock and two days later the Mayor of Little Rock bestow the honorary citizen of the City of Little Rock, Arkansas to Eniola the home state of former US President Bill Clinton for his humanitarian work.

Between January and February 2020 Eniola and his foundation team travelled down to Kebbi State (North West) Nigeria for fourth phase Math skill pilot scheme to teach pupils and teachers new technique to learn Mathematics, increase the children’s creative thinking through Math board game called ‘Take it Easy’ and he donated thousands of pounds worth Math board games, exercise books etc. He then proceeds to the premier University in Nigeria, The University of Ibadan to organized Leadership Roundtables plenary session in collaboration with Student Union leaders and School Management, theme: “Student Leadership in the 21st century-The critical interface between student government and university administration”
