Utilising her skills to enable her to support others wherever she can, Charley has mentored various people who aspire to work within radio, broadcasting, as an actor, or behind the scenes of film/TV.
Charley launched an initiative named Change the Stereo [formerly known as ‘Project 2012’] and as part of this endeavor, Charley co-produced short film Pass the Comb written and directed by Abi Lawal and Duval Okonor from Media Production Company Zone 180. The aim of the initiative is to promote awareness of the need to better represent both young people and those of ethnic origin on stage and screen. Not one to support the stereotypical views of any race, gender or age group often portrayed in films, on television and in theatre, Charley feels type-casting and colour-casting need to stop!
In December 2012 Charley launched her very own radio show on DéjaVu FM, titled “The Real Talk Radio Show UK”. The show moved to ITCH FM in 2014 and is now broadcast on the critically acclaimed Shoreditch Radio simply named “Real Talk with Charley Jai”.  To date, guests have included the winner of the popular Channel 4 TV show: SAS Who Dares Wins Moses Adeyemi, former EastEnders actress Louisa Lytton, Founder of Upshot Sebastian Thiel, 1 Xtra’s Davina Ogarro, Game of Thrones and Hollyoaks Actress Nathalie Emmanuel, Award-Winning Novelist Courttia Newland and Samuell Benta, creator of the successful webseries [now ITV2] sitcom All About The McKenzie’s to name a few.
Former actress turned Events Planner/Manager, Charley once managed MonologueSlam UK [London] where she introduced the ‘artist performance slot’ for musicians, stand-up comics and dancers and other such talents to showcase their skills in a segment much for the entertainment of the audience which would also serve to have the artist be seen by professional industry persons. As a freelancer, Charley has co-ordinated events for NL PR LTD including their extravagant ‘Listening Party Showcase’ held at the prestigious Chelsea Academy in London, May 2013 as well as events for Amor Magazine UK, Deal with D.V. and other independent companies. Charley is also an events host and has fronted Young, Gifted and Talented for the 2inspire Academy, events by Thandie & Co held at Mother London in Shoreditch with the likes of ITV Newsreader Charlene White on the panel.
Charley has a strong background in performing and writing which, alonsgide presenting, has led to her either collaborating, or working with the Newham Recorder, The Prince’s Trust, Theatre Venture, The Young Vic, Talawa Theatre, Big Fish Theatre Company, RSC and Channel 4 amongst others. In 2017, after 6 years as an eclectic lifestyle blogger, Charley was rated as one of the Top UK Bloggers by Feedspot on a list that features the likes of Marie Claire UK! Her efforts to produce helpful and engaging content not only saw her receive such high regards / recognition but, this also put her on the radar of several brands now wanting to work with her to create some exciting new products with one collaboration [a clothing brand] set to launch Spring 2017.
Charley has earned the title ‘conscientious writer’ following her blog articles about day to day life, interviews with personalities such as star of Kidulthood (UK) and Harry’s Law (U.S) Aml Ameen, plus EastEnders star Chucky Venn, as well as her reviews of plays and films and covering subjects considered ‘taboo’ such as mental health and physical illness.
In April 2017 Charley will co-host the Business Launchpad Awards and, now in her 5th year as a Radio Personality, has been chosen to be the presenter for a new on-screen show to be produced by Shoreditch Radio which is set to launch in 2018.
